Ben Coleman

Worshiper, Sound Engineer,
Technical Expert, Blogger

Ben Coleman is passionate about worship and technology, and effectively combining. Having been active in both as early as age 9, the two are very familiar to him. As his father’s video production company formed, Ben’s technical skills grew as he gained experience shooting video of worship services and concerts. At age 13, Ben began playing drums which led to running a small sound system.

Later, in 2005, Ben’s first experience with a larger scale sound system came at Union Baptist Church. Union’s 1200 seat sanctuary brought significant challenges, further developing Ben as a sound engineer. It was also there, that Ben began to see how integral technology and the relationship between worship leaders and those that minister thru technical gifts were to effective ministry. It was also at Union that Ben met playwright Garrett Davis, and began to travel up and down the east coast doing theater productions. Ben has also spent countless hours running sound systems, improving systems, and consulting.

In 2009, Ben and his family joined Agape Faith Church in Clemmons, NC where he now serves as lead sound engineer. Agape has a wonderful integration of technology, utilizing full scale sound, lighting, and IMAG. The team functions as a unit, where those off platform are worshipping along with those that are on.

It was while listening to worship leader Pastor William Murphy, that Ben began to fully receive revelation about God’s purpose in his life. The words “I was created to give You all the glory” were like a glue that brought his passions ,worship and technology together. It was then he understood that all of us share a common purpose – giving God glory – which we do with our gifts. For some, that is from the stage or pulpit, for others that is off stage.

Ben is husband to Joy and a proud father of Ben III, Josiah, Nathan, and Genesis. They live in Winston-Salem, NC.
